Mom killed my tomorrow

Dear educationists & parents, kindly permit me to share this thought-provoking confession of a student. It has one or two lessons in career guidance and parental influence. 👇🏽

They call it spiritual, They call it ethical. They call it universal, They call it motherly.
They call it usual,
They call it mutual.

Shut your eyes, and think of your tomorrow.
Shut your mouth, and speak less of sorrow.
Take a bold step, and aim forward,
You know your tomorrow.

June 1986, it all started.
In the white house of “stitches and newcomers”.
My cry filled the theater,
I was successfully born.

Dad carried me, and called me a doctor,
Mom looked at me, and called me a nurse,
Leaving me with no choice of my own.

I grew up, loving what I hate,
And forced to cherish what gives me agony.
Mom wants me to do her wish,
Dad wouldnt let go off me.

They thought they were making me better,
Rather, they were killing me within.
Call me my dad!
For he couldn’t see my future.
Call me my mom!
For killing my tomorrow.

Chemistry was made my breakfast,
And biology was made my lunch.
Physics was made my dinner

Mom scolded me for failing,
Dad blasted me for repeating.
They forgot I got an “A” in literature,
And a distinction in English.

They tore my essays, and called them trash.
They tore my poems, and swept them out.
They sold doughnuts with my storybook,
And turned my drawing book to waste papers.

They wasted their money on tutors,
And paid millions in tuitions.
They took me to the best,
While I fall behind the rest.

Suddenly! Michael gained admission.
Mom could no longer watch me, sit my bottom at home.
Special center became my home,
And expo my half brother.

At last I gained admission!
To study medicine and surgery.
Daddy was happy,
And mommy was elated.

I knew I wouldnt make it there,
I knew I was going to fail.
But mom had “long legs”,
she could not watch me fail.

I was depressed and dead within,
I smiled and laughed though.
I was not even sure of my future,
Because those I call family, tampered with it.

I did 7 courses, but happily, I passed one.
I took interest in GNS101, and got an A.
Medical courses were written in “Latin”,
Words my brain can’t comprehend.

Mom’s “long legs” pulled enough strings,
And her connection got the right people.
My results were upgraded,
And I was ironically among the best.

Years went by, with no experience.
Semesters went by, with no knowledge of medicine.
Blame me not, I have no interest.
laugh me not, mum pushed me into this.

I graduated as one of the best,
Thanks to mum’s strings.
I finally fufilled dad’s wish,
And made mom’s dream come through.

She got the name she craved “Nma Doctor”,
And the praises she had always wanted.
She was exalted as the mother of the best doctor,
Little did they know the magnitude of what she has done.

Finally, the D-day came!
The Senator was rushed into the hospital where I work,
They shouted Emergency! emergency!!
And they called me to prepare for his treatment.

With fear, I cautiously walked to his ward.
And I carefully administered formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde and methanol to the sick senator,
Little did I know the chemicals were only used in preserving the dead.

The senator was later reported dead,
And an autopsy was carried out.
They saw my flaws, and got me arrested for manslaughter,
Now I am here awaiting judgement.

The fierce looking judge had no pity,
I saw his scornful face.
Face that spelt death,
And a lip, that gives judgement.

He blamed me for my ignorance,
And sentenced me to death.
I looked at mom with regrets,
“Had she known”
Thanks mom for killing my tomorrow,
Thanks dad for sponsoring my death.

I should have resisted when I was old enough,
But my religion said “obey thy mother and thy father, so thy days may be long”

Live In The Now

Look not back on yesterday
or what you have left behind.
For only today is yours to claim,
and this moment only is your time.
Fret not on what has been
or on what has passed you by.
Yesterday is far behind you.
You can’t change it if you try.
New opportunities await you.
They come with each new day,
so look ahead with faith and hope,
and blessings will come your way.
Keep faith alive in your heart.
Live full and live well each day.
Do all the good for all you can
to all those who pass your way.
Yesterday is out of your reach
and tomorrow is not yours to claim.
Only this moment belongs to you.
So use it wisely, in Jesus’ name.

What Is The Cause Of Emptiness?

By: So’dini

The last time I checked
I failed,
I wept,
And I got Beasty.
Beneath my heart emptiness raided every bit of happiness in it.

My shadow told me “Your prayers won’t heal you, only if you take the bull horns, face your fears and ignore those who claim to have everything like paradise.

Social Media. The modern day Babylon, we’ve idolised her, using her beauty to oppress ourselves on her deceitful platform. Flaunting our achievements like the rest are lazy doing nothing.

Every corners of my city is flooded with depression, ill-wealth, broken marriages, lost values, Gucci snakes with deadly venom. Lifeless body by the roadside with ripped breasts & empty eye-sockets all used to plough money. 😢😢😢

I don’t trust folks,You can be a prospective prey for their new Bentley or Benz. A friend asked “how come they don’t wish me more Benz” he said.

They won’t wish you more Benz because you don’t do what they do.
Our society recent vogue is Holocaust of Pants. Steal pants or supply pants and you will be rich.

Money has taken over religion youngsters are dying faster than the oldies money made him do it
money made her do it.”

The moment Angel of Death requests for your soul, he won’t let you take any hand luggage, so why spilling innocent blood for this money.

After dancing with the Devil, eating fresh feces, stealing pants, Scheming, trading destiny like bitcoins… spent the returns on jewellery’s ,cloths, cars & show off.

Bullshitting education like everyone should follow their footprints. When it gets darker I fear for my loved ones because you & I know we’re not safe in the midst of some folks. We’re in a destructive generations but “who’ll lead the cold war like John snow…..” Those who tried in the past died with their enthusiasm. We don’t want revolution if it doesn’t involve money.

Thanks to So’dini for this deep poetry and truth. For more of this, please follow “the sonder of Babylon blog”

Small Beginnings

The Maker looked lovingly at the seeds in His hand

Each barely an eighth an inch long,
And smiled and nodded approvingly
As the other trees broke out in song,
The little seeds little knew at that time
The great lesson that God was showing,
Or the noble cause for which they were made

And the honor that He was bestowing,
From humble beginnings and lowly estate
These seeds would stand mighty and tall,
Clapping their hands in worship and praise
To greet Jesus the Maker of all,
So if you’re not noble or mighty
Remember neither were they,
Sequoias took thousands of years to grow
They didn’t grow up in one day.

Reasons And Rhymes: Truly

Don’t look at the short length of this post, but the message sent.

Do I truly think that I can fool
The almighty, omniscient God,
Who knows what’s in my heart and soul
And sees through my flimsy facade?

Do I truly think the fig leaves I sew
Stitched together by threads of my pride,
Can mask my fears and anxieties
From the One from whom darkness can’t hide?

For I can’t run or hide from my Maker
He knows every thought, word and deed,
And it’s only by placing my life in His hands
That my heart, soul and mind can be freed.

Washed

By the precious blood of Jesus,
Like a lamb without blemish or spot,
He redeemed us from our sinful ways,
That the world and our selfishness taught.

Though our sins be as scarlet and crimson,
By His blood we are washed white as wool,
His presence to cleanse and to heal us,
His peace to restore and make whole.

Our pardon was purchased on Calvary,
A new covenant sealed by His blood,
What we could not do, He did for us,
When He wash away sin like a flood.

Fear not said our Great God and Savior,
To approach the great Father above,
It’s His pleasure to give you the kingdom,
Tender mercies and unfailing love.

We are beckoned- approach the throne boldly,
Our entrance secured through the cross,
No matter how small, or great the request,
Not one word is forgotten or lost.

Heaven’s High King

His eyes are like brightest starlight
Piercing yet gentle and clear,
Though the heavens cannot contain Him
To the humble He gladly draws near,
Heaven’s High King stepped down from His throne
To show us the Father’s great love,
To save us from sin and the mess we made
And to raise us to heaven above,
For those who heed His call and commands
He gives peace and abundant grace,
And the promise He will never leave our side
No matter what battles we face.

The Trade

He stepped off of His throne,
So glorious above,
For no other reason,
But to shine forth His love.

The angels in awe,
Bending knee at the sight,
Of the King of Creation,
Robed in radiant light.

But the splendor displayed,
On His heavenly throne,
Was eclipsed by the sight,
Of humility shown.

He walked the earth as a Servant,
Humbled Himself as a man,
As angels looked on, in stunned disbelief,
At the wonder of God’s ancient plan.

Drowning in thick darkness,
Sinking deep into the mire,
We were blown along, so foolishly,
By selfish and sinful desire.

Out of the darkness and tempest,
Out of affliction and pain,
Along came the Prince of Righteousness,
To redeem us from sin and from shame.

The weight of the cross was much lighter,
Than the price of our sins He would pay,
For redemption from, our myriad sins,
Could only be purchased one way.

Why He would show such great mercy,
To ones so unworthy as we,
Will remain the age-old question,
A part of God’s grand mystery.

Why

Why is Christ worthy to be called the Lord?
With wide wonder I ponder the ways;
He’s the Prince of Peace and Lord of Life
Who with fervor goes after the strays.

Why do I love the Savior so?
Oh the ways are too numerous to count;
Were the whole world mine as a gift to give
It would be an insufficient amount.

Why do I cling to my Saviors side
Forsaking things I once held dear?
It’s because I’ve found Someone of infinite worth
The Great Savior who saved me from fear.

Why do I follow a God I can’t see,
And seek to walk in His steps?
It’s because He’s exceedingly gracious to me
I’m a child that He loves and accepts.

Why do I think the great God and King
Would lavish such favor on to me?
It’s a question I still often ask myself
Why He’d die to set my soul free.

Why do I choose to live a life
That could lead to much suffering and pain?
It’s because this world is not my home
And to suffer for Christ is great gain.

Why do I believe that Christ the Lord
Can cleanse the most sin stained hearts?
It’s because He truly has done it for me
By the mercy and grace He imparts.

Why do I hope in a life without end
With no death, sorrow, suffering nor pain?
Because Jesus has gone to prepare a place
In which peace, love and righteousness reign.

Not In Vain

What I once thought an exhausting wrestling match
I now see as God’s loving embrace,
I once thought it was I holding on for dear life
I now see I am held by God’s grace.

For so many years I’ve cried torrents of tears
And thought they were poured out in vain,
But God stored each one up in a bottle
And used anguish of soul for great gain.

So please dear Christian don’t give up
Even when things seem hopeless and dark,
For Christ can set the whole world ablaze,
With a smoldering wick and one spark.

True Health And Wealth

Some invest in stocks and bonds
Others stockpile real estate,
Some tie their fortunes to this fleeting world
Along with their lives and fate.

Some squirrel and horde earthly wealth
Clinging to it with all their might,
Some can’t get it off their troubled minds
And worry about it all through the night.

Some scheme, some dream and others steal
In an effort to get further ahead,
Some hope to land the ultimate deal
Or inherit wealth from the dead.

Some think that just a little more
Would cure all earthly woes,
“Cash is king” the masses sing
As the well worn saying goes.

But the wealthiest Man to ever live
Had no earthly home nor a bed,
He had no comfortable nest like the birds
To rest His weary head.

His accountant was an acknowledged thief
A tax collector part of His band,
He had no money in His moneybag
While He spoke of a heavenly land.

He preached that you can’t serve two masters
You must choose between God or wealth,
One leads to spiritual atrophy
The other to spiritual health.

He preached that the truest blessing
Was to givers not those who receive,
That His Father had beautiful mansions above
If we trust Him, love Him, believe
Jesus the Father’s beloved Son,
Who made all that we can and can’t see,
Laid down His life and His glory
To make us rich for eternity.

So if you’re burned out on the treadmill of life
Chasing after mirages that fade,
Turn your eyes to Calvary’s cross,
And thank Christ for the price that He paid.

Desire

I don’t desire
To be a good man
In order to earn salvation,
I’m saved so I seek
To be a good man
To show I’m Christ’s new creation.

My desire was to one day be great
But now pray that the Lord makes me good,
That I follow in His footsteps humbly,
And treat my fellow man as He would.

The only reason I desire a crown
Is to have one to cast at God’s feet,
To show my love and gratitude
To the One who caused satan’s defeat.

A Whisper Or A Shout

Before I spoke my Savior heard
My earnest and heartfelt plea,
Jesus save me I’m drowning in sin!
And that cry changed my life’s destiny.
Men argue and debate mankind’s state and fate
Who and what we should trust and believe,
But this I know in my heart and soul
It’s Christ’s grace we all need to receive,
So if you’ve hit the bottom of the pit
Seeing no hope or earthly way out,
The Savior stands ready and listens to all

To a whisper- as well as a shout…

Beauty

There is beauty all around us,
If we open our eyes to see,
God turns a worm into a butterfly,
And gives flight to the honey bee.

There is beauty in the mind of Jesus,
It’s made manifest by His creation,
For on that glorious dawn of this age,
The Morning Star sang with elation.

There is beauty in the heart of the Father,
Tender mercies and love without end,
For when we were lost and blinded by sin,
He sent heavens High King to defend.

There is beauty in the Holy Spirit,
Who gives comfort and helps in our need,
He is the One who gives voice to our prayer,
When we don’t know how to proceed.

There is beauty in salvation’s story,
How the King became poor for our sake,
And bestowed on us heavens true riches of grace,
That His nature we now may partake.

New Life- New Songs

By the foolishness of my own hands
I’ve burned many my share of bridges,
I’ve scaled treacherous mountain peaks
Then fallen down hard from their ridges.

I’ve soared on wings of eagles
And trod where angels don’t dare,
I’ve experienced joy inexpressible
And sunk deep in the pit of despair.

I’ve ran with man’s greatest enemy
And thought him an ally and friend,
Feasted long at the table of arrogant pride
Drunk down sin like there was no end.

I’ve fought deadly battles in heart and mind
That I never thought I could win,
To tell of my previous wreak of a life
I would hardly know where to begin.

But many, many years ago
Someone saw me for who I could be,
A child of the good and gracious God
Saved by love and His righteous decree.

That to all who will bow their heart and knee
To the Christ heaven’s Holy High King,
He will make them His sons and His daughters,
And give new life and new songs to sing.
